Ryan Beales, a 14-year-old freshman at Severna Park High School in Maryland, died on October 22, 2026, from injuries sustained in an electric dirt bike collision the previous evening. His death has left classmates, teachers, and the wider Severna Park community grieving the loss of a young life. School officials remembered Ryan as a positive presence who made friends quickly and brought a welcoming attitude to the classroom.

The crash occurred at approximately 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday, October 21, near Robinson Road and Robinson Station Road, where the B&A Bike Trail crosses the roadway. According to Anne Arundel County police, Ryan was riding an electric dirt bike, also described as an E-Moto, southbound along the trail when he entered Robinson Road and struck the side of an eastbound Dodge Ram pickup truck.

Ryan sustained serious injuries and was flown to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment. Despite medical efforts, he died the following evening. The 49-year-old pickup truck driver, who was from Millersville, Maryland, was not injured. Police said their Crash Reconstruction Team was investigating the circumstances of the collision.

At Severna Park High School, the news brought deep sadness among students who had come to know Ryan during his freshman year. Principal Nathan Johnson described him as a positive presence in the school’s hallways, classrooms, and cafeteria, noting his positive attitude toward learning and support for students with special needs. Counselors and additional student support staff were made available to help classmates and school personnel cope with the loss.

As Ryan’s family, friends, and classmates mourn, the community is holding them in its thoughts during an extraordinarily painful time. Flowers and stuffed animals were placed near the crash site as people sought to honor his memory. Ryan’s life was far too short, but the friendships he formed and the kindness remembered by those who knew him will remain meaningful to them.
